Welcome
The Michael family were one of the original families to farm this region, and still farm properties adjoining Hummocks Station today. The station is built in colourful ironstone and was established in the early 1860s — the original homestead, the restored shearers quarters and many of the outbuildings are all still standing.
Turn off the Augusta Highway a kilometre south of Snowtown and the noise stops. Scenic, quiet and secluded within picturesque farming land and surrounding hills — and the stars come out like you have never seen them.

The Caravan Park
Fifteen powered sites — including seven drive-through and six all-weather — plus spectacular unpowered bush camping across the paddocks. Powered and watered by modern solar and treated rain and spring water.
Accommodation
Separate from the caravan park: six bedrooms in the restored late-1800s homestead and three self-contained ensuite cabins. Bookings for rooms and cabins are handled directly with the station.
Six spacious bedrooms with king, queen or single beds, ceiling fans and reverse-cycle air conditioning, all opening onto the surrounding verandah. Two eastern rooms have modern ensuites; four western rooms share an adjacent modern bathroom with wheelchair access.
Three self-contained cabins with queen beds, ensuites and reverse-cycle air conditioning. Two are perfect for a couples getaway; the third adds two bunk beds for a family.
Heritage
Captain John Ellis took up the first lease of Hummocks Station in July 1851, on country he had held under occupation licences since 1845. What followed is a story of squatters, boundary riders, 25,000 sheep and a nine-roomed stone house the Surveyor-General described as “substantial” in 1864.
